Construction at Tulloch luxury Drummond Hill development is underway

26th July 2022

Construction work is underway at the highly anticipated Tulloch Homes Drummond Hill development, just off Stratherrick Road, in Inverness.

Drummond Hill will include nine executive homes, six town houses, three cottages, 12 apartments and a gatehouse. The development is also home to a 132-year-old mansion. Tulloch intend to give the mansion a new lease of life and refurbish the striking building into six apartments.

Site Manager, Brian MacBride, a joiner by trade with 25 years’ experience, has been appointed to run the luxury development and is excited work is underway. He said:

“We’ve already begun laying the foundations for the first homes and we’re looking forward to them taking shape – they’ll look great once they’re finished.

“Tulloch build high quality homes and I’m absolutely delighted to be working for them. They’re a great company, with great staff, and I’ve an excellent team for the prestigious Drummond Hill development.”

The renovation of the gatehouse, is also underway. Similar special skills will be employed at the mansion, built in 1890 for leading Inverness solicitor William Burns and his wife Jane, the last of several large villas built in the Lochardil area in the 19th century.

The pink sandstone two-storey five-bay Italianate mansion was built by Sir Alexander Ross, the celebrated local architect named ‘the Christopher Wren of the North.’

Brian MacBride added: ”This is a special opportunity for Tulloch, myself and the team as we give Drummond Hill a new era of gracious living. Tulloch won recognition from Historic Scotland for our refurbishment of Hedgefield House, off Culduthel Road, and a similar approach will be adopted to this mansion project.”
