It already feels like home
Fairview Meadows, Inverness
A home with views of Moray Firth
Liam, Sarah and their dachshund, Penny, were on the hunt for their first home together. When a friend recommended a Tulloch home – they never looked back.
We lived in rented accommodation and were really keen to get onto the property ladder and buy our first home together.
I was pretty set on a new build – they’re more energy efficient and there are less maintenance costs than an older property. Liam, who owns a local Gas and Electrical company, took a bit of persuading as he loved the idea of a fixer upper, but soon saw there was plenty of opportunity to make a new build our own as it’s such a blank canvas.
A friend lives in a Tulloch home at Fairview Meadows. She loves her home and says the staff were amazing, so it was one of the first places we went to view. It was easy to see what she meant. From the get-go, the staff were professional, helpful and friendly. We knew straight away that we wanted a Tulloch home. We just knew.
We didn’t have a set list of things we wanted for the house as such, we just wanted a spacious and open home. The three-bedroom Torrin was the perfect size – we didn’t need anything bigger, and we really liked it the minute we saw it.
The layout is great. The kitchen has space for a dining table, the living room is a really good space, and all three bedrooms are perfect. The massive windows in the home bring in so much natural light, the ground floor feels like it’s an open plan layout even though it’s not. I don’t think we’ve had the lights on once!
The storage is amazing too. It’s one of the first things I noticed when we viewed the home. There is plenty of cupboard space in the kitchen, plus a larger cupboard that we use as a walk-in pantry. Even the cupboard under the stairs is a great storage space.
I’m really impressed with our heating costs as well. In our previous home we had old storage heaters and, whilst we’ve not had a bill yet, it’s predicted that they will be a quarter of the cost. That’s another reason I pushed for a new build – they’re so energy efficient.
Even though the development is on a hill, the garden isn’t overlooked and it’s a great size. It’s fantastic here. There is still building work at the end of the road, but it’s no bother at all. I actually like seeing what’s going on. It’s interesting watching how it all comes together and how our home would have been built.
The location is so central, but you feel like you are out of the way from town and the views out to the Moray Firth are something else. There are lots of great wood walks in behind us too which is handy for taking Penny out for a walk, not that she’s overly keen on walking!
The development feels spacious. The houses are spread out compared to other new build developments we’ve seen that feel tightly packed, but that’s not the case here. The houses are all modern and nicely done and you really can’t fault the quality.
We’ve still a bit of unpacking to do, but it already feels like home. We’re delighted.
